Carbon Efficiency
CarbonEfficiency.Ai is software platform for architects, interiors designers, specifiers and facilities
management companies seeking to reduce and report the carbon impact of interiors.
The platform brings together materials suppliers, equipment and furniture manufactures, all of whom
offer ‘circularʼ products and promote the benefits of 2nd life. All powered by Carbon Efficiency.
‘Carbon’
A key reporting metric that’s driving demand for certification from specifiers and end users. We start we with the basic reporting requirement every purchasing department needs: ISO14967 for Scope 3 calculations.
‘Efficiency’
The key word we focused on while developing our second generation software platform CEv2. At the forefront of our mind was – how can we ensure designers can focus on designing not auditing.
METHODOLOGY
Carbon Efficiency: A simplified reporting method that measures the whole life carbon footprint, against life and floor space, as a measured rating. It allows us to measure and score the 1st life of the product, estimate the 2nd life score and also indicate the average score by product type. ISO59004 defines ‘reuseʼ as; ‘use of a product or its component parts after their initial use, for the same purpose for which they were originally designedʼ. We determine ‘2nd lifeʼ as a form of reuse, encompassing reuse, repair or remanufacture.
CIRCULARITY
We also report the circularity of products, principally by reporting their recycled content, refurbishability and recyclability. Manufacturers can only quality for 2nd life reporting if they offer a refurbishment scheme, either directly or through partners.

Measuring Carbon Efficiency allows designers and specifiers to compare products across 3 categories and 36 product types.
It also allows us to created benchmarks using the average rating per product type.
ESTIMATES
During the design stage we offer subscribers the opportunity to calculate up to 3 design simultaneously. Quicker then making a coffee.

CIRCULAR PRODUCT DECLARATION
In preparation for Digital Product Passports, we created a tiered independent certification for
manufactures, allowing them to collate core data as required, product by product. Bronze
certificates are aligned to ISO14067, Silver adds ISO59040 and Gold are both ISO14040 and ISO59040 and pre-veri-
fied by a third party for EPD application. Each certificate comes with an Ecolabel and graded Furniture Passport,
linked via a mobile landing page to our product directory.

PRODUCT CIRCULAR DATA SHEET
We’ve teamed up with Terra Matters in Luxemburg to offer their Product Circular Data Sheets (PCDS), as either part of our Silver and Gold Furniture Passports, or separately. PCDS’ are ISO 59040 and provide an extensive set of data points for circular evaluation and certification. Terra Matters are working with the EU Commission on Digital Product Passports, and these are a key stepping stone to future compliance.
PCDS can be used for furniture products, construction materials, in fact almost any circular product.

FURNITURE, FIXTURE & EQUIPMENT REPORT
Our FF&E interior fit-out reports allow architects, interiors designers, specifiers and facilities management companies to report the carbon impact of interiors. More then this, our reports support Carbon Reduction Planning by clearly highlighting the benefits of reuse as a way to reduce the carbon impact of interiors.
The reporting provide both a detailed product listing of products 1st life and potential 2nd life and carbon visualisation of the fitout.
